Carpet Factory now stocks the newest range of renewable solid bamboo flooring that can be laid on any stable indoor surface, including timber, concrete, tiles and even slate.
Our latest range of bamboo products are produced from plantation bamboo crops grown from ecologically sustainable renewable plantations.
Our current elite and robust range of bamboo flooring comes with a pre-applied moisture and sound blocking rubber underlay of the highest quality. The boards are milled in a, laser-guided saw that cuts with such accuracy that each board fits cleanly and snugly to the next. After milling, the bamboo boards are sanded and coated with a 8-coat build-up process using the toughest flooring finish available.
Being pre-finished also allows the Flooring to be used almost straight away after install.
Two primary colours of BAMBOO FLOORING are currently manufactured in this product.
NATURAL AND CARBONIZED
The naturals are lighter in color and have a bright and fresh natural bamboo look.
The Carbonized is a darker colour and appears more like a earthy oak look.
Carbonized is a process of steaming the bamboo in the manufacture process. This is process heats up the sugars in the bamboo causing it to caramelize turning it a golden brown. It's not a topically applied stain, it's actually a carbonization or caramelization that changes the colour through the entire plank, so the floor is able to be sanded back whilst still maintaining the darker colour. Some people call a carbonized finish a "fumed" finish. There is virtually no effect on the durability of our bamboo flooring due to the carbonizing process, just a beautiful color option and a floor that with proper care, will last a lifetime.
(There is also a variety of flooring that is carbonized and then stained creating an even darker effect like Jarrah timber. This stain will only be a top coat and if the floor is sanded back it will return to the carbonized colour.)
NEW STRAND WOVEN BAMBOO
Our new strand woven bamboo is now available in beautiful long wide planks. Our strand woven bamboo is the hardest wood style flooring available, and similar in look to a traditional timber floor. Officially licensed Unilin click system provides a solid join with no glue required. DIY installation is a breese. See it instore for more details.

Carpet Factory stocks a wide range of click-lock laminate floating floor, timber ply floating floor, solid timber and bamboo flooring and pvc plank flooring.
All floating floors are timber, or timber look, but what is the real difference?

1. Click lock laminate floating floor
, otherwise known as laminate floating floor,
is a flooring with a locking tongue and groove
edge that is easy to install and excellent for
"do it yourself" renovators.
The standard product comes in a 8mm thickness MDF or HDF backing with a standard PU coating.
The deluxe product is 12 mm thick and comes with either a flush or bevelled edge style finish. Floating floor products are laid on a thin underlay around 3mm thick and have a slight springy feel.
Over seventy percent of customers that purchase this product from Carpet Factory, install the product themselves, saving on installation fees whilst still maintaining a professional flooring look.
Click Lock Laminate floating floor is probably the most cost effective hard floor covering, especially if the floor being covered, transitions from a partial timber floor to a concrete slab (like many extensions) or has a slightly uneven concrete surface not suitable for vinyl.
(please note: Carpet Factory does not currently recommend click lock flooring in a SOLID TIMBER as it has often been know to squeak after a period of time due to the shrinkage of the timber and the locking system becoming unstable. This is not to be confused with laminate flooring on MDF base that does not suffer the same side effects when manufactured buy a reputable laminate flooring supplier)
__________________________________________________ 2. Timber Ply Floating Floor , works in a similar manner to the laminate flooring. It is laid on underlay and is usually available in a thickness of approximately 12mm.
The main difference between the laminates is the look of the timber.
Because timber is a natural product, the colour,
depth and colour variation in a timber floating
floor gives a pleasant natural random colour variation
and look that will give your home or apartment
the feel of added warmth and luxury.
The new Polyurethane
coating of today's timber flooring also adds strength
and durability to the timber and manufacturers
offer up to 15 year ware warranty.

3. Solid Timber flooring is a 18 mm thick luxury product that can be laid directly onto floorboards, MDF or ply sheeting using (secret) nails and glue.
Solid timber flooring is pre-finished in a stunning semi gloss Polyurethane coating and looks a million dollars, without costing a fortune. It is also available in a bamboo 18mm plank that is a three ply product with fabulous depth and shine.
Because our solid timber floor is pre-finished, the days of moving out of your home for up to a week, while dangerous sanding particles and Polyurethane fumes fill the house, are gone.
(please note: All of Carpet Factory's solid timber flooring soluitions are maunfactured from certified renewable and sustainable timber plantations from overseas, or from Native Australian Timbers from our own AUSTRALIAN GROWN timber resources.)

4. Vinyl Planks are a heavy duty commercial vinyl that are around 3mm thick.
Vinyl planks can be glued directly to a flat concrete floor (floor prep may be required if the floor is bumpy or uneven).
Vinyl planks can also be laid on timber floorboards by using MDF underlay sheets to even out the floorboard surface.
Planks are also excellent for laying on concrete flooring with in slab heating, as they provide minimal insulation to the slab and will easily conduct the warmth up into your home.
Vinyl planks are also well suited for commercial areas that have heavy traffic and can also be laid in wet areas like bathrooms and laundrys.
For the DIY handyperson planks can also be laid with decorative borders and central patterns. With a creative eye the possibilities are endless.
